My Story
If, like me, you look through my collection of Indigenous art and fall in love
with some, there is a good chance they will continue to ‘call you’. I started
collecting Indigenous art over 25 years ago. Initially it was to hang in my
home, to admire the amazing diversity in colour, story and even feel the
ambient power in each artwork. Somewhere over time, the collection of
beautiful Indigenous art ‘called me’ to the point of obsession. I have over
300 artworks from al least 100 artists. Most art has come from three main
areas: the Kimberley, the Central Deserts and Arnhemland. There are
works on bark, paper, canvas, board and even hollow logs, so the
collection is very diverse.
If any of my Indigenous artwork ‘calls you’ through a quicker heart rate and
offers you a heightened emotional awareness to this 40,000 year old
cultural and artistic practice, contact me. I will arrange a time to show you
the artwork via facetime, WhatsApp. or some other suitable mechanism
where you can see the art virtually in minute detail. Conversely, if you are
in Darwin, the art would be made available for you to view.
Contact me, Gavin Bedford through email on ccherps@iinet.net.au or
phone 0413080045 to arrange to view any artwork either physically or
virtually.
Grandmasters
Indigenous Grand Masters are the ‘Best of the Best’ and highly sought as both exquisite examples of art, and for their investment value. Like other long-term investments, art by the Indigenous Grand Masters is an appreciating asset in most instances. My obsession with Indigenous art meant it was these titans of the Indigenous Art world that I aimed to
have hanging in my home. Many works in my collection consist of these world-renowned artists. In the collection there are works from some of the top 100 Indigenous artists of all time and they would make a welcome addition to any home for their colour, beauty and power as well as adding to your investment portfolio.
